FROM THE SECRETARY GENERAL

imgGreetings,

I am pleased to inform you that the ICCN is publishing a new, web-based magazine to replace the ICCN newsletter. By having “The ICCN Times” we can reach more people, governments and institutes and spread the ICCN’s mission of safeguarding the world’s Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The ICCN has important agendas for 2011 and 2012. This September the ICCN will convene in Gannat, France for its Thematic Workshop, 2nd Youth Forum and first board meeting. These steps will further strengthen the ICCN’s work in the field of Intangible Cultural Heritage. In 2012, Gangneung, Korea will host ICCN’s General Conference, and in cooperation with the City of Gangneung, we will sponsor ICCN’s first joint festival, aptly called the “World ICH Festival.”

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support. The staff and I of the ICCN want to work closely with you to bring benefits to all the governments and institutes involved in the ICCN. As a competent organization, the ICCN will continue to grow through our consolidated efforts to realize our mission.

I hope you enjoy reading "The ICCN Times” and look forward to hearing back from you with comments and suggestions. Finally, I would like to wish all the members of the ICCN and their families a Happy and Prosperous New Year. Sincerely,
